Chuffed Up! – E.S.B. (Extra Special Bitter)

Another nod to delicious liquid across The Pond, this malt-forward, sessionable ale is delightful and perfect to lean into the cozier, colder months.

An E.S.B. (short for Extra Special Bitter) is a traditional English-style ale that is malty, toasty, a bit nutty, and with a wisp of stone fruit underneath it all. If any of y’all are a fan of our House Pub Ale, think in that same vein… minus the chocolate-y Tootsie Roll kinda of discourse and with a bit more of a bite. Despite the name of the style, the “bitter” in the name is a bit misleading, if comparing it to a pale ale or an classic IPA… both of which have more bitterness than an E.S.B. Again, this ale have smidge of a bite, but only for balance and drinkability sake.

Bulit on a base of Maris Otter, with touches of English crystal malts for nuance and color. Some classic U.K. Fuggle hops were used for balance while they toss off oaky/woodsy undertones. And last, but certainly not least, the same English yeast strain we use for the aforementioned House Pub Ale is utilized with this ale as well.

Come on down and snag a pint of this quaffable gem with some of your best mates!
