Sleeveless Vest – West Coast Pils - Collaboration with Little Thistle Brewing
Howdy, y’all! We proudly introduce to you an extra crispy lil’ number born from a solid braintrust between us here at Nine Mile and the excellent crew down at Little Thistle in Rochester, MN. Wait… aren’t all vests sleeveless though? Well, yeah. Unless one is on a roll excitedly explaining a killer “sleeveless vest” in conversation whilst already a few pints down the gullet. Ope… dummy!Built on a base of mixed base of Floor-Malted Bohemian Pilsner and Eraclea Pilsner for a sturdy, simple canvas with bits o’ nuance. Lil’ smidges of Dextrin and Acidulated malts lend body and mild complexity. Kettle additions of Cascade, Citra, and Centennial CGX leech lovely little aromatics into the fold. Chinook CGX and Citra Cryo further push punchy citrus and wisps of tropical fruit on the nose without getting anywhere near pale ale or IPA territory. The “west coast” part of this pils is a nod to the bold aromatics/flavors of westy pales and IPAs without becoming one itself. It retains its crushable identity while cheekily wearing a disguise of bright hops on the surface. The amalgamation is damn delicious!Light, bright, punchy, and effervescent… with a snappy bitterness that disappears quickly into a clean finish. And If y’all haven’t been down to Little Thistle to imbibe their liquid wares, getcha selves there sooner than later!!

Frost Fangs
Well, if this isn’t a timely addition to the line up… with all this late-March snowy (predictable) nonsense we got going on here in MN. Aptly named for the current lil’ cold snap, Frostfangs is super crisp, hop-forward delight to imbibe.Cold IPAs at their heart are IPAs fermented at lager temps (usually with a lager strain or an ale/lager hybrid strain) for a cleaner, clearer, and crisper canvas for hops to express themselves to the utmost. That lovely lupulin doesn’t have to compete, or combat, with any esters that usually arise from standard ale yeasts.Built on a simple base of pilsner malt with a decent smack of rice (indicative of the “style”) and a lil’ bit of dextrin malt to create a very neutral malt backbone, with enough left behind for head retention, for hop expression to blast forth unhindered. Citra and Estate Grown Comet couple together for some classic late-kettle additions. Citra and Eureka were dropped into the whirlpool. Citra Cryo, Estate Grown Comet, and Eureka team up for a big (but not overwhelming) dry hop addition. A classic continental lager yeast was utilized for a low and slow cold fermentation and an extended slumber. Total time for grain-to-glass: 9 weeks.Expect aromatics/flavors reminiscent of dank pine, sweet citrus flesh, assorted stone fruit, and light floral notes. A moderate dryness, firm (but smooth) bitterness, and a snappy effervescent finish round it all out. Go ahead and curse the frigid, frosty temps while indulging in a pint of two of this liquid gem!

Eugene’s Pre Prohibition Lager - Collaboration with Eugene the Brewery Pup
Let’s be honest, the light lager has had a chokehold on the American beer industry for as long as many of us can remember. But those refreshing little crushers weren’t always what we know and love today. Before being outlawed in those dark years of Prohibition, American Lagers were bigger, bolder, and, dare I say, hoppier. A true case of immigrant ingenuity, brewers were faced with the challenge of brewing those styles they loved from across the pond using ingredients that were new and indigenous to their new homes, and they did it well. Thus, we present Eugene’s Pre-Prohibition Lager! American 6-row barley and malted corn make up most of the malt bill, helped along with some 2-row Czech style pils and Great Chit malt for added body to stand up to a formidable hop presence that you don’t see in today’s light lagers. A pint of Eugene’s Pre-Prohibition Lager harkens back to the early days of American craft beer, so settle in, take a sip, and let history repeat itself. And pet your dog while you do it 😉

Lithy – Lithuanian Farmhouse Ale
We're taking y'all back across the pond again to Eastern Europe nodding to centuries of tradition with our take on this varied continental style... Bulit on a mixed base of floor-malted Bohemian pilsner & white wheat with a supporting cast of golden naked oats, Munich, spelt, & acidulated malts. The trio of Lotus, Loral, & Bravo hops provide crisp balance and give off light tones of bright citrus & noble grassiness. Gobs of linden blossom honey from our pals over at Bare Honey (added to the mash, boil, & whirlpool) contributes added body, very slight nuance, & enzymes for the yeasties to do their excellent work. Speaking of... an assertive Lithuanian Farmhouse yeast strain from The Yeast Bay bestows most of the complex citrusy & earthy aromatic/flavor notes & makes it near bone-dry. Expressive, complex, super dry & still fairly full-bodied... this slapper of an ale gives off Spring-like vibes while we are yet in the clutches of cold. Come getcha some!
