Nimloth – New Zealand IPA
“Another beer named after some deep-cut Lord of the Rings lore…?” Yes, yes indeed. We lean into the nerd/dork/geek stuff here pretty dang hard. Might as well go full send from time to time, right? (pushes nerdy glasses back up bridge of nose) Plus, all of LotR was filmed in NZ. Everyone wins here. Blah, blah, blah… ok back on track. Anyway, this killer new hop-forward offering is oh-so-gosh-darn-tasty, y’all.Built on a mixed base of pilsner and standard 2-row malts, with a decent smack of dextrin, and a sprinkle of acidulated round out the grist. All NZ hops with all their unique terroir-based flavors/aromatics shine excellently in this lovely ale. The duo of Nectaron and Nelson Sauvin grace the kettle and whirlpool additions. The quad showstoppers of Motueka, Nectaron, Nelson Sauvin, & Wai-iti lend their talents to the dry-hopping regimen. Our favored house ale yeast strain lets the hops take centerstage while keeping it all clean and crisp.Bright and punchy with a veritable plethora of tropical goodness backed by citrus and a light undercurrent of stone fruit. This liquid libation just might make you want to dust off your copy of The Silmarillion and attempt to read it cover-to-cover, and actually finish it this time. (You know who you all are… admit it.)

It’s been an unseasonably warm winter that’s for sure, and word from our furry friend on the East coast is that Spring is fast approaching! Rejoice in that knowledge with a new hazy brew from your less furry friends here at Nine Mile Brewing: Phil’s Premonition, a Hazy Pale Ale. Sessionable, light, and fruity is the name of the game with this one – sort of like these balmy 40 degree days in February! Expect blended notes of citrus, stone fruits and melon on the nose with a pillowy orange finish that’s great for easy sipping. No better way to usher in longer days than with some certified sunshine in a glass. (And the best part is: you don’t even need to be in Punxsutawney to know it’s Phil approved!)

Barrel Aged Another Happy Landing – Imperial Brown Ale - Collaboration with J. Carver and Copperwing Distilleries
Holy moly, y,all… the time has come. We woke the beast from its long slumber and got it all ready to present to you in all its barrel-laden glory. We took a small portion of our 1st Anniversary beer, Another Happy Landing - an Imperial Brown Ale - and racked it into fresh local MN bourbon barrels from our friends at Copperwing Distillery and let it rest and ruminate for six months. We then racked it again into local MN fresh rye whiskey barrels from our pals at J. Carver Distillery for an additional six months to gather yet more depth of character. The result of this combined year-long aging has yielded one damn tasty gem. Smooth whiskey-soaked oaky vanilla notes pair in tandem with the base beer’s original tones of nutty, toffee-like malt sweetness to amalgamate into one cohesive libation. This beauty is big and bold, yet approachable despite its boozy nature, with a light warming note on the palate to finish. One could argue that the lack of roasted malt character in this beer lets the barrel characteristics express themselves more fully and with more nuance. But… we will let y’all decide that for yourselves.
