Shardic Expression #3 – Imperial Oatmeal Stout aged on French and Mongolian Oak

Boiled for hours and fermented slowly on oak for weeks, this Imperial Oatmeal Stout has lovely layers for your palates to ruminate upon…

Built on a robust base of Maris Otter with a supporting cast of malts that include: multiple iterations of oats, a myriad of crystal and Munich, and choice roasted malts. A neutral, smooth bittering hop, Helios, keeps it in balance and from becoming cloying. Our favored house ale strain ferments it out to a moderate sweetness. Last, but absolutely not least, we fermented and aged (6 weeks) this dark liquid on both French and Mongolian Oak provided from the folks at Black Swan Cooperage.

Big and burly, yet smooth… with ribbons of complexity. This one is definitely a sipper. Imbibe this slow to bring out the buried layers of flavors/aromatics as it slightly warms in your hands.
