Märzen! – German-Style Märzen Lagerbier

Oktoberfest is nigh, y’all! And this year here at Nine Mile, we have an additional option to coincide with what is traditionally offered in Munich during the flagship event itself… a Märzen!

So, a Märzen is a version of an Oktoberfest beer that is slightly sweeter, a lil’ maltier, and has a smidge more body than a Festbier. It also has a copperish-amber hue to it as well, to further differentiate it from its lighter cousin.

Built on a base of German pilsner malt, with some choice German specialty malts as a supporting cast that include: two types of Munich, some Caramunich, and Melanoidin. Traditional German hops (Spalter Select) add delicate balance and a whisper of noble hop character. And last, but certainly not least, a traditional German yeast strain to round it all out lovingly. We lagered this beauty for many moons to get the nuances in the beer to meld together wonderfully.

Clean and crisp, with a malt-laden presence without it being too dense or heavy. Refreshing and slightly filling!

Prost, y’all!
